Healthcare/Hospitality Training Programs

The PLUS Company was the first to open Project SEARCH in New England at St. Joseph Hospital in Nashua, New Hampshire in 2009. Project SEARCH is a 10 month employment training program for students with developmental disabilities and acquired brain disorders. The program offers a seamless combination of classroom instruction, career exploration, and transferable-skills job training. Interns train in various departments including: Diagnostic Imaging, Sterile Processing, Cafe and Dish Room, Endoscopy, Materials Management, Environmental Services, Surgical Services, Infection Control, Cancer Center, Sleep Center and Patient/Nursing Floors.

We continue to develop new programs based on the local labor market, client interest and employer needs. We have expanded this combined classroom and on-the-job training model to various sectors or industries with programs such as STRIDE in partnership with Lowell General Hospital and Sodexo. This program is shorter in length at 18 weeks but focuses on developing soft and hard skills that students take with them to either work directly in the Healthcare field or elsewhere such as Hospitality or Food & Beverage.


Retail Training Program

Another sector based training program that we operate in partnership with Marshalls/TJ Maxx in both Nashua, New Hampshire and Tewksbury, Massachusetts is our Retail Training program. This program is for students interested in pursuing careers in the Retail field such as Customer Service, Sales, Backroom Processing, Inventory Management, Loss Prevention, and other exciting positions in small and big box retail stores. Programs are 18 weeks in length and focus on combining classroom instruction and on-the-job training to focus on soft and hard skills. Some of our Employment partners after graduation include Burlington Coat Factory, Sears, Toys R Us, and Marshalls. 


Office Support Training Program


Our most recent development is the INCOME Office Support training program hosted by the University of Massachusetts: Lowell Campus. The INCOME program focuses on developing skills needed to work in an office environment through career exploration, classroom instruction and on-the-job training and support. Graduates from this program secure positions such as Front Desk Reception, Administrative Support, Mail Room Operations, Data Entry Specialist, and Marketing Support to name a few. Some of our Employment partners include BAE Systems, Dyn, Black Duck Software, Foy Insurance, and Dartmouth Hitchcock. 


Career Assessment Program

Some folks aren't sure about what career paths they'd like to follow, or perhaps they have not had enough exposure to different occupations. No worries, we have the Career Assessment Program which creates a "career road map" for individuals through a series of assessments/testing, classroom-work, informational interviewing, and by performing situational assessments on-site with real jobs, real work. By performing these activities we then paint a picture for the individual which outlines recommendations for either further research, exploring educational opportunities and training or establishing a solid base-line of work or volunteer experience based on the local labor market, individual's interests, and other factors.


Point-of-Sale System Training

We provide Point-of-Sale (POS) training through Retail Store Live, a cloud-based POS system that resembles the technology used by most retailers. In this training program, we cover the basics of the technology used, retail common practices, customer service and other relevant topics. This program ties into our Retail Training program by providing interns with the necessary cashiering skills needed for positions in the Retail industry. This program can be offered as a stand-alone program or in conjunction with the Retail training program. Skills learned are not only system-based, but also go into detail regarding money/coin recogntion, effective ways to give change, understanding basic customer service principles and more.
